"The Poor Man's Supercar"

It was in 1962, just 9 years after Chevrolet introduced the Corvette, its first 2 seat, but underpowered, sports car.  It was designed by GM's bright and hard driving Harley Earl, a man who would become a design legend. But now, GM's chief engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov, replaced the original straight 6, 3 carb, 150 hp truck engine with auto tranny in the '53 model, with a small block V-8, and linked it to a 3 speed manual tranny in a new, lightweight, Grand Sport Corvette version. Presto! Instant success! VVAROOOM never felt so good!!!   GM made only 5 of these. Driven by famous drivers, they made history, and all are now collector's items, worth about 1 1/2 million dollars each. Feels good if someone gives you one.
