In 1963 Pennzoil became Pennzoil Company when it merged with South
Penn, Stetco and Zapata; then it acquired United Gas Corp in '65,
Chevron in '93, and merged with Quaker State in 1998. In 2002
the Pennzoil Company was purchased by the Royal Dutch/Shell group,
forming "SOPUS", Shell Oil Products US. There's hardly
a whisper now from the once thick-as-corn-shock oil wells in Oil
City, but Pennzoil, with offices now in Houston, continues on
in its tradition of providing modern lubricants that are among
the very finest in the world.
